Finally, I went to the Getty Center all by myself!

Museum Entrance hall such a tourist

No car today, just public transportation - buses, so I finally got onto the getty center to see those notable views above LA. I'm so proud of myself, once again! Because I went there all by myself!

First checked online, Metro.net, The Getty website, and then took a 901 Orange Line from Laurel Canyon to Van Nuys station. Asked a young couple for transfer station's place, then ran onto Rapid 761 heading to Sepulveda/Getty Center. The reason I'm proud of myself is mainly because here, LA is not a normal city because they do not have a normal city's transportation system. No readable bus routine, no people check your tickets, pets can get on bus too...whole system are very unbelievable, and I'm here, brave woman, went out transferring different buses and finish round trip perfectly.

There are a lot of tourists and many parents with their kids, and funny thing some teachers brought their students discussing the art pieces inside museum. Each hall have enough sofas for you to sit down, and all the photos are available for you to take pictures. Great system inside and I'm amazed by those paintings, sculptures. Thanks to those labels, otherwise I need to rent a audio guide player. Anyway I understand I couldnt finish everything but I totally enjoyed the afternoon. Saw those fine art by Van Gogh, Monet, Cézanne..I cherish this chance, made me so close to the art. Most importantly, I went by my speed, took my time and I got inspired. - energy stuff.

Brought the map and guide home and surprisingly find on the getty's website they have a "Explore Art" link, and all those pieces I saw today you could see it online plus explanations on the labels. - Great system, and I hope in China some day our museum could open freely to the public and fulfill online introduction system.

Tomorrow I will go to a book store, and before I leave will go to see a movie.......keep busy!

Btw, I'm disappointed that SYTYCD is becoming some kinda lame reality tv show...and I might stop watching it.

    What A Day!

A for Ashley Me in front of Tower of Terror Me and Victoria on Main Street

Mannnnnnnnn!!!! What a day! I can't believe I went to the Disneyland and the California adventure park too...took a whole lot of energy yesterday. We 6 people, like a small group headed there at 11. So give some introduction before I'm gonna tell ya the wonderful day story - Tonia and marc, newly married couple and they are the sweetest people I've ever seen! Ermin, Marc's chinese friend. Robert (Bobby is his nickname) and his roommate's daughter Victoria, who's a norwegian. And me, so total 6 people - awesome number!

By picking Ermin up, I saw the korean town in LA, really amazing living area that everything's in Korean. Also Tonia told me that Disneyland is in Orange County, omg! OC!! Grrrrreat!~ Of course in the OC show, its a rich people's neighbourhood which is close to the beach. But Disneyland is on the other side of OC, anyways I'm so excited when we were approaching there.

I finally got there, and found out that the disneyland park here actually is almost same size as the one in HK. But the difference is there's another park - adventure park right beside disneyland park. They are two different parks but right in front of each other, so its like two parks but all under disneyland's name. My favourite items are Tower of Terror, Screamin, Soarin- which are all in the adventure park. Also the Splash mountain, Pirates of Caribbean, and Space mountain are great thrills too, these three are in the disneyland park.

Everybody wore sunblock lotion, but we still got tan. Bobby was talking to anyone in the park, Erwin couldnt stand the Roller coaster stuff so usually just stayed outside and waited for us. Victoria had so much energy that never ends, Tonia and marc they are rock! I mean I had the best day here with those people, that is way beyond what I can say.

We were super lucky because we didnt need to wait long lines for those items, the longest wait was right before the fireworks in the ice cream shop...ironic but we hit all major and fun items in both parks which surprised Tonia that she's been there for more than 5 times but never ever got this luck that be able to play all these items in one day before! So of course we got tired after the fireworks, litterally lost the voice and energy...

I couldn't tell you enough about how scary that tower of terror was, how breathtaking the maliboomer was, and how delicious that ice cream was. Just let you know I luv those nice people who came with me today, and I'm so lucky!! Thank god, thank Tonia and Marc, thank everyone!!!

Today I went to Downtown with Annie by bus and subway, and we went on the wrong metro when we came home - what a poor transportation system in LA! And its like every 5 minutes, a begger would come up to you asking for a dollor...freaks me out! I would rather stay at home...gosh!

Alright, so I'll get some rest because tomorrow I will go to Melrose to explore that interesting street with the Clown. Ha~ , I will keep you posted.

I'm gonna work on getting tan~ oohoooo!

Downtown LA Venice Beach waiting for my breakfast at 1030am

I've been busy going around the town so as you may notice from my frequent updates, hope you guys get used to my holiday frenzy. One thing I got upset is my online favorites leshou.net was broken and I kept all my bookmarks there and now I'm stuck here. errrr, so lousy!

Anyway lets talk about some good stuff going on here, like the other beach I went to today - Venice beach where a lot of freaks, entertainers, artists, singers showing around. There are many beaches in California, this one is not for swimming or surfing, its famous for its "freakshows". So we got there pretty early in order to find a parking spot and got breakfast done early in case later we cannot even find a table to sit down. So I bought Annie a nice breakfast and she was really nice taking me walking all around the beach about 3 hours. That's how I got my flipflop lines on my feet, coz other part were all tanned now.

Everybody has a tattoo, either fake or real, thats how I feel in LA or say esp today on Venice beach. Temporary tattoo smells like shit, but those inks or whatever were really all over the beach. Piercing, painting sailing, jelewry, tarot, healing, handmade all kinds of stuff were spread out along the booths side. Other side are those private houses with open stores selling tshirts, ..all kinds of actions. We went early and Annie was worried about those entertainers wont come today that would be a pity, but after I went for some shoppings they came. Oh I got some tshirts and flipflops, not bad though. Thoes entertainers came with their different geeks, kind freaky but some are nerdy just for fun. I am lucky coz those people came today, and I luv the weather there too - almost everyday! Annie tole me usually in Jun its cloudy, but ever since I came its sunny everyday. ha~ Its like 90 degrees F on the beach which is cooler, when we back to home in Valley at 3 p.m it was 100 degrees F.

After beach, Annie drove me home and our plan is to get tan - for her, just legs, for me..ummm..whole body everything:D So we first went to a tanning shop, and right beside it was a free cholesterol check. It is important to Annie and then I was there for her to finish the test, results is not good though. Then we went to the tanning shop to check out the price - really cheap, I mean cheaper than those tanning shops in shanghai. Anyway that nice gal in shop recommended us that if we have pool at house we dont even need to go there! Man, we do have a pool at backyard. Gosh! Annie determinded to get tan at our backyard so I'm in!

Then, its the swimming time. I bought lots of cherry pepsi - It tastes goooooood!, and so I drank the pepsi and jumping to the pool...also got tan on the beach chair with Annie. After we done, I took a shower then really felt refreshing. Then eating salmon as dinner, got my ticket rescheduled, and went out to buy my fav icecream....I'm all set! Finally got back home chat with frenz and now uploading pics and updating it...thats it! What a day today right? My plan later tonight is reading the newspapers, and watching some night shows - btw, I luv Saturday Night Live & Fox's Spike Feresten's talkshow last night.

Alright, just telling you we went to downtown LA for like only 2 hours. Annie wanna go buy some jewelry beads, and I went there to check around. Only little time but we were both tired, so we decided to go again next time to spend more times there - very important thing is - Downtown LA is not like any other cities' downtown. Because usually people dont go to downtown, which is very opposite to Shanghai or HK or Montreal where Annie's from. Anyway, I will go and take some pic next time.

Enough for today, and I just finished American dad on Fox, kinda boring episode....so smell ya later.

    Life's A Beach

Westward Beach, Malibu california sunshine luv it

Alrrrrright! So I swam in the Pacific Ocean today! Let me mark it down - Jun 20, 2008. ooyeeaah!! Extrordinary beatiful weather and clean beach we went to, also is Karen's fav fav fav spot in LA. Btw I knew that purple tree's name today, its called jacaranda. Alan and Karen are so kind to me, they picked me up at 12 and headed to Malibu beach, about 9 miles on the freeway and they told me lots of historical stories about the LA city. I learnt a lot from them, they are so Kool!

Actually there are many things or say lots of things happening these two day...dont even know where to start ..pls bear with me

Myke stood me up last night coz we were supposed to go to a piano bar but he slept over, which anyway its a win to me coz I need go to the beach next morning. So I also learn the LA culture a bit, like "its no big deal" thing, coz sometime I really took too much importance from what other people say. I shall grow up in LA and know how to "not give a shit about sth." laid back somehow may also means unreliable..yeah somehow~

So Steve called some guy to spray off those ants in the kitchen this morning, and we have to leave the house coz the smell might kill us not ants. Then Alan and Karen were just arrived in time and I jumped onto their car couldnt wait to see the beach. Well, lots of what they talked to me I could not write here down, coz its way too much work for me to do. So if i got chance to talk to you guys, I could say whatever you wanna hear, but now I will just tell ya how big wave there was. How salty the water is, how clean the beach is, how great area for people to relax...and its only friday, we could not even find a parking spot, looks like many people take a sickday off...:p

We enjoyed everything on the beach and Karen took some fruits and vegetables as our "Snack time", she also enjoyed taking pics for me. I uploaded some fotos today so pls go check out. Then we left Westward beach around 3 and went for lunch at Malibu Country Mart, where a lot of movie and tv starts go shopping and dinning. And exactly when I walked into Tra Di Noi, seeing Bill Bailey dinning with another two ladies. Anyway he's the third tv stars I've seen here, kinda amazing n made me feel im a tv star cracker:D - thats how Annie called me. We enjoyed the italian foods and beers, then went out for icecream. But that Ben&Jerry's was closed, so we went for some shops and those prices were really high. Then we went back on my road trip and Alan kindly drove me thru other way that could show me North Hollywood, West LA and Beverly Hills...But we finally find a icecream shop called Cold Stone at Brentwood, Where we were in the car, Karen helped me circled the places we went to today on the map and gave it to me - which is like a treature, im so thankful to them.

Okay between Alan and Karen, they had lots of stories but just wanna cut it shortly, and wanna say - We had fun today!

So, the week goes soooo crazy. Anyways, im off to have a vacation this weekend. Altho, the package to HK, MACAU and ZHUHAI include a meeting set up in HK with a taiwanese GM. The tickets are just booked this afternoon, the room tickets were booked yesterday. Everything seems with no ready and just pull out right away. Okay, after shitty monday, shitty tuesday...goes on till today. But, only mean the office stuff.

Last night, i finally got my buddy Kristopher to meet me here in shanghai. Funny that he didnt feel me fat even a little, which is probably because hes good at appraising girls, but really i enjoyed the night with all his friends n him in xintiandi. Mostly, in Kabb, we were chattering, from shanghai to hongkong to macau to taipei, even refer to northern korea. Unbelievable talks with those friends from macau, and i also met with crio, the girl i should go to meet her for long time but just because i was supa busy. Btw, the egg cake in shanghai, i probably would get the vip coupons right away coz Kristopher brought me somebody "special".  ahah~ and for the key thing is, those buddies will be back to macau n stay with me on the 3rd of Sep. Probably i will just go to the venetian the biggest casino in the world that night, n made a sleptover. haha~ kidding, but i will definitely have fun there.

I will be stay at Regal Kowloon hotel for 2 nights, but my cellphone is not available there. 2nd Sep i will arrive at Macau with a new cellphone number, gonna call all my frenz there. hurayyyy~~

Lets do this, get crazy, enjoy the holidays AND bon voyage!  coz lily, alan, me will go there these days. Have funs!!
